Loop Recorders
A loop recorder is a small device that is inserted into the chest wall. It records the patient's heart rhythm continuously for up to three years. This allows Dr. Cervera to monitor the patient's heart rhythm over time and identify any abnormal rhythms.
How is a loop recorder inserted?
The loop recorder is inserted under local anesthesia. A small incision is made in the chest wall, and the device is placed under the skin. The incision is then closed with stitches.
Benefits of loop recorders?
- Can help diagnose heart rhythm disorders that are difficult to capture with other tests
- Can help identify the cause of syncope (fainting)
- Can help assess the effectiveness of treatment for heart rhythm disorders
